Really Fun Projects

I have been surfing the web this mornng and thought I
would share a couple of super cute projects
I found on the Cuttlebug Blog.

The 1st one is really cute for St. Patricks Day . And if you
have a little girl like I do,
then this
is perfect :)

Welcome to Monday rendezvous. Happy St Patrick Day! I'm Shantaie Fowler, today I will be showing you a fashionable way to guarantee a pinch free St. Patrick's Day. These handmade hair accessories are trendy, quick and green, not just in color they are also environmentally friendly!

Lets gather our supplies:

You will need a shaped die to cut fabric, I used circles.

fabric scraps, or recycled clothing, leftover ribbon or tulle.

ribbon pieces, ponytail holders, bobby pins, or clips. {green tip use what you have on hand}

fabric glue, or thread and needle

hole punch

Cut fabric with Cuttlebug by Provo Craft. Here
I have layered fabric and tulle, use a B plate ,steel die
face up, fabric, and a second B plate. This is a great way to use up all those
fabric scraps laying around, or that 1990's polyester
blouse that needs a
new life. Goodbye ugly clutter,
hello hip hair accessory!

Cut a hole through all layers of overlapping circles,
graduating from larger to smaller.

Tie a knot in the center of a length of scrap ribbon, or
fabric strip approximately 8 inches long. feed both ribbon tails through hole and tie securely to ponytail holder, if desired glue ends down on back of
flower, or stitch in place. Scrunch circles
o create a free form flower.

Add buttons, pearls, gems, or whatever you may have on hand.
I used several different types of fabric weight ,
they are each unique and beautiful.

You can use them as a package adornment, tuck an Irish blessing

inside for a sweet little gift.

We are all Irish {even if only in spirit}

on St Patrick's day.

Have you ever wondered where the pinching tradition came from?
Wikipedia gives this explanation:
Ireland is known as the Emerald Isle. Green is traditionally worn on
St. Patrick's day to
honor the Emerald Isle.

Tradition holds that on that day, people who do
not wear green are pinched as a reminder to
wear green to honor the Emerald Isle.

What better way to avoid the "pinch" than these lovely
green flowers, so much more stylish that a T-shirt
covered in 4 leaf clovers don't you think?

The 2nd Project is super easy and fun and
just in time for Easter :) To put in Easter baskets
or just give as a gift :)

Cone-Shaped Carrot Treat Holders

It's finally starting to feel like SPRING! The birds are
chirping, the sun is shining, and the world is beginning
to wake up from it's winter sleep!

To Welcome Spring! I thought it would be
fun to make cone-shaped Carrot Treat Holders.

You will need:
Orange Cardstock
Green Patterned Paper
Cuttlebug & Embossing Folder
Pinking Shears
Double Sided Sticky Tape
Ribbon
Tag
Flowers
Button
String

First, trace a circle onto the orange cardstock.

Next, cut the circle into four equal sections.

Emboss your cardstock using the Cuttlebug and desired embossing folder. I chose to use the Swiss Dots folder. Trim the curved edge of your circle section with pinking shears.

Adhere double-sided sticky tape to the
edge of the cone and roll up into a cone shape.

Cut a piece of green patterned paper into a 6" X 8" rectangle. Gently roll into a tube and cut into one end every 1/4" to create fringe. Leave about an inch along the bottom to attach to your carrot cone.

Line the inside top edge of your carrot cone with double-sided sticky tape. Slide the 1" uncut section of the green patterned paper tube into the carrot and attach firmly using your fingers to press down and secure it into place.

Fill the cone with your treat. Gather the fringe together and tie closed with a length of ribbon. Decorate a tag with flowers and button. Tie around the carrot. And there you have it! A fun treat to hand out to family and friends! :)
